From 1st August, Lancaster University will be host to the new School of Computing and Communications. Combining the strengths of the Computing Department and the Department of Communication Systems the new school is a multi-million pound centre for study and research in the fields of computer science, ICT and communications engineering and is housed in the iconic InfoLab21 building.
Over 100 people attended the first Faculty of Science and Technology at Lancaster University Industrial Showcase event for businesses. Presentations from the day are now available on our website.
InfoLab21 spin-out digital art company BigDog Interactive (BDI) has exhibited selection of "steam punk gadgets," high tech objects that look Victorian at the First UK Vintage Computer Festival at the National Museum of Computing.
Instant feedback technology that allows the public to voice spontaneous opinions about their surroundings is being tested to help make cities safer.
Mobile phone designers from Lancashire's two universities have worked together for the first time to create a game which is now being sold worldwide by the computer giant Apple.
InfoLab21 has been asked to join an international community of Higher Education Institutions called HEXTLEARN- "Higher Education Exploring ICT Use For Lifelong Learning."
Congratulations to students from ICT Focus who were awarded the Foundation Degree of Science in Systems/Network Engineering. The ceremony took place on the 15th July in the presence of honorary graduate Top Gear's James May.
Michelle Mone OBE, Founder and Co-owner of MJM International and the UK's leading designer lingerie brand, Ultimo, will be at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) on August 3rd to pass on valuable advice to local businesses.
Delivered by Lancaster University Management School across the Northwest and funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Innovation for Growth offers objective advice and support to embed innovation within the business and management processes and practices of regional SMEs (small and medium enterprises), leading to product and process development, diversification and ultimately business growth.
